Happy Holidays from Some Festive Fish
First off below divers, we want to wish you happy new year! For this holiday season we want to celebrate with a few fish that we think are festive in a time of year where streets and houses are decorated with bright lights and green and red colors we want to show you some of the fish that decorate reefs all over the world.
As many of you know, some corals and animals have the ability to glow. This super power is caused by these creatures’ ability to absorb light and then emit it in a glowing color, and it is called biofluorescence.
Chain catshark/ chain dogfish
These sharks are harmless and are rarely encountered by divers as they are very small. At birth they are only 10-11 am long and only grow to be a maximum of 52 cm.They can be seen in the Northwest Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean. You can identify them by the spots all over their body!
Triplefin blenny
These very small fish are normally found in warm and tropical waters like the Atlantic they, name means “with three wings”.
In Cozumel you cam often find them hiding in the sand or under rocks. They are quite quick but you can lure them out by moving the sand gently.
Lizardfish
This glow in the dark deep-sea fish is the scariest of our holiday fish. It can grow to be feet long, they have big black eyes and many many teeth. But don't worry you won't find these in Cozumel.
